Professional Development

Learning and development is necessary for continued growth, clinical excellence, and innovation.

Scope has invested heavily in education not only for our teammates, but for our perioperative partners, including the next generation of healthcare providers.

Scope Anesthesia’s educational structure consists of three pillars: Learning, Continuing Medical Education, and Professional Development

Welcome to the Applied Learning Lab (APL)!

At the APL, we fuse simulation, quality, and education to craft healthcare professionals and teams for success. Dive into real-life team scenarios, embrace empathy, communication, and patient-centered care. Our multidisciplinary initiatives and outreach programs propel healthcare’s future, uniting technology, innovation, and the human experience.

Join us in shaping tomorrow’s healthcare, where compassion meets cutting-edge expertise.

Scope hosted a simulation kick-off event with the new SRNA students on July 20th, 2023.

The Scope Education Team organized a successful simulation for 18 SRNA students, which was facilitated by Dr. Brent Holway. Mikayla Rose was instrumental in the success of the session, and we greatly appreciate her dedication to education.

This event was the first of many simulation opportunities for the SRNA students. We are looking forward to hosting a pediatric intubation session this fall with the help of the Peds Cardiac team.

Our Approach

Learning

Our providers dedicate time to educating undergraduate medical students, graduate medical students, Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and other perioperative partners. Additionally, Scope physicians have published more than 50 pieces of academic work in the past five years.

Continuing Medical Education

Scope has greatly invested in growth in learning through the institution of the Department of Anesthesiology Grand Rounds, Perioperative Education Series, subspecialty focus groups and journal clubs. Scope led a multidisciplinary collaborative to establish a perioperative simulation center dedicated to enhancing the quality of care and patient safety using a full spectrum of clinical simulation in the training and assessment of healthcare professionals.

Professional Development

Professional Development consists of a large body of work wherein leaders dedicate their time in pursuing initiatives and improvements outside of their clinical responsibilities. These initiatives include focuses related to quality and patient safety, sustainability, technological advancements, and leadership among others.
